Windows are major components of buildings allowing for transmission of light, providing view for the occupants and giving a pleasing facade. However, poorly designed and installed windows pose a problem of water seepage. As aluminium frame windows are commonly used in the local industry, the Good Industry Practices Aluminium Window was developed to share with the industry good work practices adopted by practitioners and contractors who have consistently delivered high quality work. This Good Industry Practices highlights the benefits and practical tips on how quality fabrication and site installation can be achieved.

WHY CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT?Every construction project combines a variety of complex challenges. Managing a project requires a combination of technical understanding of construction processes and resource management, as well as managing their legal and financial aspects.WHY STUDY WITH US?The Bachelor of Construction Management (Building)(Honours) will equip you with the skills and knowledge to manage complexities in construction projects both in Singapore and across the world. The programme incorporates substantial Building Information Modelling (BIM) teaching and projects which offer a niche specialty beyond the construction management discipline. This would give the graduates a solid foundation to pursue wide career choice as BIM Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Facility Managers. The degree programme is conceptualized to be a problem-based learning pedagogy to train students to solve real world challenges, develop holistic understanding of construction project environment and portable life-long learning skills. To offer an accelerated pathway, an advanced standing articulation would be eligible for students with relevant diploma qualifications.

Drywall as internal partition is gaining popularity as one of the leading solutions towards achieving quality finishing with higher productivity. Besides facilitating a cleaner, quieter and environmental-friendly worksite, drywall construction is quicker with lesser labour requirement. The use of drywall internal partition is encouraged and recognized under CONQUAS 8th edition and forms part of the CONQUAS Enhancement Series on Good Industry Practices. This GIP course aims to highlight the benefits and good practices of drywall installation introduced in the GIP practice guide book on Drywall Internal Partition and extends the knowledge to other applications for wet areas and Prefabricated Bathroom Unit (PBU).

The aim of the Certification Course for Green Mark Facilities Manager is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to improve and implement sustainable measures and technologies in an existing building. Participants will learn how a buildings energy consumption and environmental impacts can be minimised during the building life time, and to conduct Green Mark Assessment for existing building.
Reinforced concrete is still commonly used for building and construction in Singapore and around the world. Sustainability considerations in recent years have resulted in an in creased focus on the repair and refurbishment of all types of concrete structures rather than demolition and redevelopment. Furthermore, defects are now more evident in building constructed during the boom years of economic growth when buildings are erected at a very fast pace. Resident Engineers (REs) and Resident Technical Officers (RTO) are the first line of defense to prevent concrete defects as they are directly involved in supervision of concreting works, they may be involved in development projects requiring addition and alteration of existing buildings in conjunction with new developments. This series of programme will provide the participant with the technical knowledge on the causes of structural and non-structural defects in concrete, their remedies, repairs and the preventive maintenance needed to upkeep these structures.

With the increasing awareness and effort of adoption of sustainableconstruction which will require less of natural resources and increasethe reusability of engineered material, the Industry has been exploring the use of engineered wood products such as Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam) and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) as readily available sustainable way of construction. The workshop will be focusing on the potential benefits andpossibilities of using engineered wood products for medium risebuildings. The goal of the workshop is to provide a general overviewand understanding toward embracing the development of thestructural design of Glulam and CLT buildings.During the workshop, several calculation case-studies will be shown inorder to help the participants to understand on the main concepts oftimber engineering.
