Drywall as internal partition is gaining popularity as one of the leading solutions towards achieving quality finishing with higher productivity. Besides facilitating a cleaner, quieter and environmental-friendly worksite, drywall construction is quicker with lesser labour requirement. The use of drywall internal partition is encouraged and recognized under CONQUAS 8th edition and forms part of the CONQUAS Enhancement Series on Good Industry Practices. This GIP course aims to highlight the benefits and good practices of drywall installation introduced in the GIP practice guide book on Drywall Internal Partition and extends the knowledge to other applications for wet areas and Prefabricated Bathroom Unit (PBU).

The aim of the Certification Course for Green Mark Facilities Manager is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to improve and implement sustainable measures and technologies in an existing building. Participants will learn how a buildings energy consumption and environmental impacts can be minimised during the building life time, and to conduct Green Mark Assessment for existing building.
Reinforced concrete is still commonly used for building and construction in Singapore and around the world. Sustainability considerations in recent years have resulted in an in creased focus on the repair and refurbishment of all types of concrete structures rather than demolition and redevelopment. Furthermore, defects are now more evident in building constructed during the boom years of economic growth when buildings are erected at a very fast pace. Resident Engineers (REs) and Resident Technical Officers (RTO) are the first line of defense to prevent concrete defects as they are directly involved in supervision of concreting works, they may be involved in development projects requiring addition and alteration of existing buildings in conjunction with new developments. This series of programme will provide the participant with the technical knowledge on the causes of structural and non-structural defects in concrete, their remedies, repairs and the preventive maintenance needed to upkeep these structures.

With the increasing awareness and effort of adoption of sustainableconstruction which will require less of natural resources and increasethe reusability of engineered material, the Industry has been exploring the use of engineered wood products such as Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam) and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) as readily available sustainable way of construction. The workshop will be focusing on the potential benefits andpossibilities of using engineered wood products for medium risebuildings. The goal of the workshop is to provide a general overviewand understanding toward embracing the development of thestructural design of Glulam and CLT buildings.During the workshop, several calculation case-studies will be shown inorder to help the participants to understand on the main concepts oftimber engineering.

Supervision plays a crucial role in building and civil engineering works. The Eurocodes for structural design have been implemented on 1st April 2015 as the prescribed structural standard for meeting compliance with the Building Regulations in Singapore. Eurocodes are different from the past Codes of Practices. This course is organised to prepare stake-holders including building owners, developers, builders, specialist builders, architects, engineers, project managers and such supervisory personnel as Qualified Persons, Site Supervisors, Resident Engineers and Resident Technical Officers on the understanding of supervision of building and civil engineering works in accordance to Eurocodes.

This course is to give a broad view and the purposeful meaning of the Practice of Professional Engineering Examination; to identify the common mistake and weakness in the candidates who responded to the exam questions.
This course will provide practicing engineers a good insight into the importance of geotechnical site investigation and its processes. Participants will also learn how to interpret soil investigation reports to ensure safety of the geotechnical works and the surrounding structures.

Water seepage through external walls, mostly occurred by ingress of rainwater, was found to be a common defect faced by homeowners. To enhance water-tightness performance of external walls, it is important to look at the use of suitable materials, adequate wall thickness, design of proper construction details and surface rendering and finishes. This course complements the Good Industry Practices Waterproofing for External Wall and highlight the good practices introduced in the guidebook.

The course will equip the participants with the knowledge of causes and mitigations of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) issues, conduct of an IAQ investigation and procedures to execute appropriate remediation measures. This course will cover IAQ management for non-residential buildings where air conditioning is commonly used. It will emphasis on the air quality control in air conditioning & mechanical ventilation system for tropical climate. The participants will also be introduced to the SS 554 standards in indoor air quality for air conditioned buildings.
