Structural steel is still in demand for their high quality and productivity while stainless steel and aluminium has appealing qualities leading to an increasing use in the Construction Industry. Participantswill have a better understanding on various corrosion methods on structural steellike hot dip galvanising, anti-corrosion paint & coating. Issues related to inspection, maintenance and repair of steel structures will also be discussed.

This is a course detailing the fundamentals of process safety and safety case. The topics covered include technical safety, major hazards assessment, the Workplace Safety & Health (Major Hazard Installation) Regulations, safety case, process safety management and an industry learning journey (to the Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore).Safety case is a newly introduced regime in Singapore. Professional Engineers (Chemical) from diverse operational backgrounds may not have the specialised knowledge on the elements and requirements of safety case, as well as important process safety aspects in chemical plant operations.

With the rapid global infrastructure development, there is a new focus on sustainable usage of concrete. Using supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) like silica fume, pulverized fuel ash or ground granulated blast furnace slag to replace or compliment cement is one practical area to achieve sustainability which is gaining importance. Stakeholders in construction industry (Owners, Architects, Engineers, Resident Technical Officers, Site Supervisors etc) are handling more demanding and complex projects in current development projects and may involve working with SCM. This programme aims to provide information on the nature of these SCM and the resulting properties of concrete batched using such materials to participants to allow them to better execute their projects.
