The Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) of SPRING Singapore, with the support of Geotechnical Society of Singapore (GeoSS), Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Land Transport Authority (LTA) has introduced an accreditation scheme for site investigation firms. As part of the accreditation requirements for site investigation firms, site investigation supervisors of the firms are required to undergo a training course on site investigation. Upon successfully completing the course, they can be registered as Certified Site Investigation Supervisor with GeoSS.
Computational BIM approach enables professionals from the built industry to explore and automate more design options leading to desired solution for productivity gain. The design approach also makes the creation of complex geometry possible and accurate. This 2-day workshop covers the practical applications, modelling workflow and integration of model with BIM software to enhance the design process. Participants will be equipped with practical computational BIM skills and technical knowledge through the hands-on sessions. Industry practitioners will also be invited to share on their experience in adopting computational BIM in their projects or workflws.

This Engineering/ Technical Event is organised by IES Aerospace Engineering Technical Committee (AETC).
Speaker: Associate Professor Dr. Liu Erjia, School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
Cold spray is attracting increasing interest as a coating, repair and additive manufacturing process across a large number of industry sectors. Recent advances in equipment, coupled with novel approaches to the manufacturing and metallurgy of the materials employed in cold spray are encouraging the development of load bearing applications for AI, Fe, Ni and Ti alloy components.
Coatings and surface engineering: addressing the needs of industry
Water repellence; lightning conduction; increased abrasion resistance all properties which can be imparted to a material through the use of coatings and surface engineering.
Aerospace
The complex castings made of difficult-to-weld alloys used in aircraft structures can easily suffer superficial damage, either during their production as a result of casting defects or mismachining, or during service as a result of wear and corrosion.
Alongside surface engineering for repairs, the aerospace sector also needs durable anti-icing and anti-fouling coatings, improved bulk materials for aircraft leading edges, thermally resistant coatings and advanced composite materials for aircraft pipelines.
Construction & Built Environment
The construction industry is always seeking improved ways to repel moisture, limit the impact of fouling and preserve dimensional stability, appearance and insulation performance.

Against a backdrop of economic uncertainties, many on-going projects run the risk of going into disputes, claims, delay and disruption.Loss and Expense claim is one of the cost claims that are likely to be encountered by contracting parties of a construction project.
Lean Construction techniques aim to improve processes through waste minimisation. A synergy of Lean Construction and Building Information Modelling (BIM) will certainly have a profound impact on productivity and hence profitability. In this workshop, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is introduced as the combination of 4D BIM and lean construction management to achieve optimization of the construction schedule for continuous flow of construction process and better planning in construction management.
While BCA has made significant progress in leading the building industry towards Universal Design (UD) adoption through funding and seminars, the industry is still lacking in their knowledge and application of UD. There is a need to build the industrys capability and capacity in adopting UD so as to create an inclusive and age friendly built environment for all ages. The 4-day programme aims to provide an overview of the various aspects of adopting an inclusive approach to design. The course will adopt a multidisciplinary approach to gain an appreciation of UD through the direct contact with varied user groups in a focused context; the pragmatics of UD supported by an understanding of the theoretical framework; and the ability to source for and apply qualitative & quantitative information regarding the fit between human and the built environment.

This talk will focus on the Design for Safety (DfS) process, and how the Project Managers can incorporate this process into the project schedule, without affecting the project delivery date. We also discuss on the criteria and attributes ofthe DfS Professional, so that the GUIDE workshops are effective
PART 1: MECHANICAL GROOVED PIPING SYSTEMSThis seminar provides a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical grooved piping systems. Upon completion of this seminar, each participant will understand the history and anatomy of a grooved joint, and installation process from pipe and grooves inspection all the way through to visual verification of installation.PART 2: FLEXIBLE SPRINKLER FITTINGS SYSTEMSUpon completion of this seminar, each participant will understand the history and the anatomy of the flexible drops, how modern innovation is revolutionizing this Flexible Sprinkler Fitting Systems with new technology, and all the way through to visual verification of installation.

Underground and related structures are of great significance to the local construction industry. Many structures have to be built below ground and their design and construction are of importance to those in the civil engineering profession.Resident Engineers and Resident Technical Officers need to be familiar with the construction and supervision of underground and associated structures, as such foundations, basements, tunnels and earth-retaining structures.
