With increasing numbers of building & infrastructural as well as industrial assets located in close proximity to, and even within aqueous or marine environments, protection of materials of construction, particularly steel and other metals, against corrosion is of great importance. The seminar will address the developments in the understanding of galvanic corrosion, and the various methods and procedures necessary for achieving corrosion protection, with particular emphasis on cathodic protection.

Portable fire extinguishers can be real life savers as they can be used both at home and the workplace. This seminar will provide an update on the latest SS 578 : 2019 Code of practice for the use and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers. Portable fire extinguishers are regulated fire safety products and compliance with the requirements in the SS 578 is necessary as stipulated in the Fire Code. SS 578 covers the requirements for selection, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers. It defines comprehensive requirements for selecting and using the appropriate type of extinguishers for various classes of fires.(CPD units)SCDF - 5 CPD / PEs & CEngs - 3 PDU
