BCA is now inviting nominations for the Construction Productivity Awards (CPA) to recognise outstanding firms and industry practitioners for going the extra mile to achieve productivity improvements at the firm and project levels. The Awards aim to recognise built-environment professionals, consultants and builders for their achievements in improving productivity and promoting productivity in the industry. Closing date for nominations for CPA - Projects and CPA - Advocates is 31 Dec 2018.

Launched in 2011, the Build Smart Conference has been a key event, which is an industry-wide campaign to raise awareness in enhancing construction productivity. The theme for this year revolves around Unlocking Innovation through Digital Transformation focusing on technological advancement and best practices in Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD). The international and local experts will share on their experiences on topics such as application of digitisation through exemplary international and local IDD projects that enhance our construction productivity.

The Green and Gracious Builder Scheme (GGBS) was launched in February 2009 to raise the environmental consciousness and professionalism in builders. The GGBS small and medium construction (SMC) was introduced in April 2014 to encourage SMC firms to work in a smart and responsible manner. GGBS is also a benchmark of a builders corporate social responsibility to the environment and the general public. Apart from setting standards for green and gracious practices, it also helps to improve the image of the builders and the built environment sector.

Computational BIM or rule-based approach refers to innovative problem-solving processes in which users define algorithms and workflows to automate tasks, optimise outputs and manage changes across different project phases. It allows users to explore more options leading to desired solution for productivity gain. Computational BIM also forms an important part of Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD). Increasingly, local and international project teams are adopting it to optimise their project delivery.

Up-to-date knowledge of local regulations and construction practices are key to the site supervisors especially the Resident Engineers (RE) and Resident Technical Officers (RTO) to deliver their duties diligently and effectively.This course will provide site supervisors essential knowledge in the areas of regulatory requirements, safety regulations, environmental management at construction sites, code requirements on construction practices and site supervision. This course is also useful to engineers with foreign qualifications, and others who wish to be updated on local construction practices.

The Security of Payment Act facilitates payments for construction work done or for related goods/services supplied in the building and construction industry. It aims to improve cash flow in the construction industry by giving parties the right to seek progress payments for work done, and to provide quick and low-cost resolution of payment disputes through adjudication. The course provides an overview of the key essentials in the Security of Payment legislation. It aims to enhance participants understanding on the mechanism, requirements and considerations of the Security of Payment Act and discusses payment issues typically encountered in building and construction projects.
