Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) is a new approach in the construction industry.By bringing more work offsite, manpower and time needed to construct buildings are reduced, while ensuring work sites are safe, conducive and have minimal impact on the surroundingliving environment. This workshop covers the design, manufacturing and planning aspectsof DfMA, with focus on Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC). Sharing ofcase studies on different types of projects which deployed DfMA methodology and the benefitsreaped will help participants better appreciate, and be more confident in the adoption andimplementation of DfMA.

In the Vision Zero movement, one of the key steps in achieving WSH excellence is commitment by leaders. Leaders (senior management) play a crucial role in building up safety and health culture of an organisation. They have greater influence in raising WSH capabilities of their contractors and the workforce. They also have responsibility to send clear signals that they are committed to bring their workers home safe and healthy. This years WSH Conference, jointly organised by BCA Academy and IOSH (Singapore), embraces the theme of WSH Excellence through Leadership in Construction Industry - Driving Towards Vision Zero.

With advent of BIM, the design and installation conflicts among construction elements could be effectively identified, visualized and managed with the use of 3D BIM model. Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) coordination has been identified as one of the most complex tasks of the project delivery process. The BIM for MEP Coordination course aims to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills on how to achieve MEP spatial coordination through BIM with a greater degree of accuracy and collaboration. A series of hands-on, collaborative exercises will be conducted to simulate the real-world scenario of the coordination process from model review all the way to BIM translation to field. As such, participants are able to familiarize themselves with better, more efficient practices in MEP modelling, coordination, and collaboration, which will ultimately contribute to productivity and minimize reworks on site.
