2-Day Practical Course on Safety Data Analytics to Improve Workplace Safety & Health Performance: Data Analytics is one of the emerging frontier technologies that our workforce needs training in to acquire skills to analyse available data. Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) works involve enormous data in the form of inspection reports, incident reports, safety behaviors indicators, procurement data, etc., that can be analysed with suitable data analytics tools to arrive at outcomes that can be used to improve work productivity and WSH performance at workplaces. Safety analytics can predict and prevent workplace safety incidents, thus saving lives, money and organisations reputation which goes beyond the conventional dashboards and safety reports of past incidents or accidents.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) has become one of the most exciting developments in the building and construction industry in recent years. As an integrated design and documentation tool used to enhance communication and collaboration among all the project stakeholders, BIM has already begun changing the way architects, engineers, contractors and building owners work together. With strategic implementation, BIM will significantly improve the design and construction process through more integrated project coordination. BIM has also been identified as one of the key technologies to be adopted under BCAs S$250-million Construction Productivity and Capability Fund (CPCF) to help the local construction industry improve productivity and enhance its capability. The Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modeling (BIM) aims to impart in-depth knowledge on BIM fundamentals and develop strategic skills for BIM project planning and implementation. It will focus on BIM applications for effective design analysis, productive design and construction coordination and holistic facility management. BIM standards and guidelines as well as BIM project case studies will also be included in this course.Upon graduation, participants can look forward to career opportunities as BIM Project Coordinators, BIM Modelers/Operators, BIM Consultants/ Specialists, and BIM Managers.

Participants of the Certification Course for Green Mark Manager will gain an in-depth understanding of BCAs environmental sustainability legislative framework, underlying performance standards and BCA Green Mark assessment systems, including the revised BCA Green Mark Criteria For New Non-Residential Buildings Green Mark For Non-Residential Buildings: 2015 (GM NRB: 2015). Focus will be placed on green building design guidelines and technologies, where the participants will learn the methods of identifying, evaluating and selecting cost effective solutions towards a more holistic green building performance. On top of that, the course will also touch on the integration of passive and active building design, as well as cooperation between disciplines in the design stage so as to optimise building design. It aims to practically empower industry professionals to take leadership in competently guiding projects to excel in the Green Mark criteria, and ultimately push the frontiers for greener buildings.

Lifting plan is a set of plans which is created for use in any crane lifting operations and it consists of all the important information that must be considered in a lifting operation thus ensuring that the lifting operation is carried out safely. It aims to facilitate consensus amongst all relevant stakeholders including the lifting crew for a safe outcome. Under the WSH legal requirements, all lifting operations shall be accompanied by a lifting plan. This BCA Academys practical course will enable construction site personnel to prepare a proper lifting plan for crane lifting operations and implement the lifting plan in a crane lifting activity.

This seminar is part of a series of seminars by the Building andConstruction Standards Committee to keep the local industry informed of changes and new standards. The Eurocodes have been implemented in Singapore since April 2015. It has been a learning journey for the local industry. The European standard, EN 1090 (Execution of steel structures andaluminium structures) is the relevant standard for fabrication andinstallation of structural steelwork. This European standard allows the use of higher steel grades not covered in the old BS codes and is usedextensively in Europe and other parts of the world (e.g. China) forcertification of the fabricators. The Singapore version of this standard, SS EN 1090 which is made up of 2 parts has been adopted in Singapore to allow the use of alternative structural steel materials for building works. Certification of fabricators to SS EN 1090 would elevate their competency and therefore, align our local steelwork practice with that required by the Eurocodes.
